2025 CBBA Strategy Conference Wrap-Up
The City of Blacktown Basketball Association (CBBA) proudly hosted its 2025 Strategy Conference at West HQ, marking a major step forward in sharing our long-term vision for basketball in the Blacktown region.
The event began with a warm welcome and opening remarks from CBBA’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Denise Flores, who outlined the purpose of the 2025 CBBA Conference — to connect our community, share our vision, and set a clear direction for the years ahead.
CBBA Chairman Peter Nordstrom provided a reflection on the history and growth of the Association — from a handful of domestic teams in our early days to now accomodating over 1,400 members, over 130 domestic teams per-season, a full representative offering across boys and girls, and all the off-court initiatives the Association is engaging in. Peter’s message reminded all attendees of just how far CBBA has come.
CBBA General Manager Lachlan Arford then presented CBBA’s 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, detailing our focus areas including:
Securing additional court space and maximising venue partnerships.
Strengthening domestic and representative player pathways.
Expanding opportunities for coaches, referees, and officials.
Solidifying inclusion and accessibility through programs like Assist All Hoops.
Building the infrastructure and commercial foundations for an NBL1 program.
The Q&A Panel
The Q&A Panel at the end of the event included:
🎤 Lachlan Arford – CBBA General Manager
🎤 Peter Nordstrom – CBBA Chairman
🎤 Maria Nordstrom – CEO of Basketball NSW
🎤 Brad Bunting – Mayor of Blacktown
🎤 Kouat Noi – Sydney Kings Player & CBBA Ambassador
Together, they discussed the role of community sport (specifically Basketball) in Western Sydney, the challenges ahead, and the responsibility CBBA holds as a leading sporting organisation in the region. The Q&A session was a perfect opportunity for our community to ask questions about the future of the Association.
